        CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

        GENDER SENSITIVITY

Arwachin International School hosted the CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on Gender Sensitivity on 26th April 2023.

The Capacity Building Programme was attended by teachers from various schools across Delhi and NCR.

The CBSE Resource Person for the workshop was Ms. Rajni Ashat, who is associated with CBSE as a resource person for over thirteen years and has conducted more than 200 workshops.

The most important issue addressed in the workshop was the need of gender sensitivity as gender bias is still prevalent in our society and how society needs to undergo a change in overcoming stereotypes which define the role of men and women and vice versa.

The workshop covered a huge range of topics towards understanding the importance of gender sensitivity – beginning from awareness about gender to strategies for integration of gender sensitivity in teaching. The resource person used the daily interactions of teachers with children to demonstrate how gender bias is established unknowingly through written or spoken language. The participants at the workshop played a proactive role as the entire workshop was conducted in an interactive style. Each participant took initiative to express his/her point of view on a given topic of discussion. Videos and group/individual activities were used to drive home this sensitive issue.

Overall, it was a very enlightening and thought provoking session.
