The Museum functioning under the Union Ministry of Culture was founded in 1949. After a forty-minute bus journey through the thoroughfares of the capital, the students reached at about 10 AM. The Museum consists of all sorts of articles from different timelines, including pre-historic ones. The tour began with a visit to the section on the Indus Valley Civilisation. With the help of the invaluable services of a knowledgeable guide, the students could identify various artefacts including animal and human figurines made of terracotta and ivory during the second millennium BCE. A myriad of coins were on display, including Mughal ones, East India Company coins, British imperial coins, and modern coins. Several other things such as figurines of various deities, Persian translations of Indian epics, remnants of the colonial era, artefacts relating to Buddhism, North-Eastern wonders, and South American curiosities were also explored. It was a journey through time and culture which offered the students to explore the rich tapestry of our country’s past.

Arwachin International School celebrated World Mental Health Week in a very distinct manner. A short stand-up comedy show was organised by the school to de-stress the students from their rigourous routine. Mr. Soumil Sehgal, a student of Khalsa College, University of Delhi, delivered the amazing performance and amused everyone with his punches and quips. The occasion was graced by the presence of the respected director Mrs. Ayushi Sharma and honourable principal Mrs. Dimple Puri.

He made the entire hall burst into laughter. The teachers and the students were extremely regaled. His gags and banters on the incidences of a student life lighten up the mood and spirit of the audience. The show was very engaging and interactive. He constantly involved the audience in his jokes and asked them questions. He concluded his performance by motivating and encouraging the students.

The students were extremely overjoyed at the brilliant performance that was original, relatable, and hilarious. They thanked Mr. Soumil Sehgal and the school for this distinct endeavour. Some students also displayed their talent. The event concluded by the vote of thanks by the honourable principal Mrs. Puri. She thanked everyone for their efforts in making the show a success.

“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candour, and more unashamed conversations.” – Glenn Close

Arwachin International School observed World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2023 with great enthusiasm and fervour.

Students participated in various activities and events organised for the promotion of mental health and well-being. Yoga, mindfulness and other relaxation activities were conducted to help students relieve any distress. Activities related to dance; music and sports are regularly conducted in the school for promotion of our student’s happiness. Students also created a gratitude chart in their classes wherein they shared notes for their friends/teachers/ parents/siblings.

The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day 2023 is "Mental health is a universal human right." The purpose of this theme is to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right, says WHO.

Our mental health is an invisible force that controls our thoughts, feelings, emotions and the way we react or respond to situations. The basics of sound mental health are easy to follow, but not prioritised by many. Taking care of our mental health is an act of self-love. Every human being deserves to prioritize their well-being.

Let’s vow to keep the conversation going about mental health and work towards a world where seeking help is encouraged and supported.

                                                                            Mrs. Aafreen Sarfaraz
