Science is a practical subject, teaching of which cannot be done properly only in theory form. Hence, it is necessary to conduct various kinds of experiments to promote experiential learning.

The students of class 5ABC were taken to the chemistry lab where they were demonstrated the activity of separation of insoluble substances from impure water. They were explained the process of sedimentation, decantation and filtration. The students were very excited and eager to know the names of the apparatus, equipment and chemicals kept in the lab.

The experiments fostered their curiosity and they understood the concepts effectively.

To make the girls more informed, active and stronger to face the changes that constantly occur in life, a workshop on ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ was organized by ‘Eartha Foundation’ at Arwachin International School for girls of classes V to VIII on 2 November 2023. It aimed to create awareness and educate students about the importance of menstrual hygiene. The event was graced with the presence of the honourable Principal, Mrs. Dimple Puri, and the esteemed members of the ‘Eartha Foundation’ – the President, the Vice-President and the Speakers. They conducted an engaging session with a focus on breaking taboos and promoting healthy practices by the young girls.

She began the workshop by emphasizing the significance of menstrual hygiene for the overall health and well-being. She spoke in detail about the dos and don’ts of the personal hygiene to be maintained during this time. She discussed the need of maintaining menstrual hygiene by all individuals. Cultural practices and taboos around menstruation were explored, along with their negative effects on women's lives.

It was an interactive session where students enquired about certain myths related to menstruation which were taken satisfactorily by the speakers. The workshop was a valuable initiative to empower students with knowledge about their bodies and promote healthy practices. The engaging presentation by them left a lasting impact on the participants. In all, the session was very fruitful as the girls could get the chance to come out of their self-made shells of hesitation and talk freely about their feelings and attached fears.
