'Essentially all life depends upon soil'
On 17 August 2024, the Eco and Heritage Club of Arwachin International School organized a significant environmental initiative aimed at enhancing the students' awareness of the importance of soil health and waste management. With the assistance of an expert gardener, the students of class VIII enthusiastically participated in the construction of a compost pit within the school premises.

The initiative began with the collection of green waste, including leaves, vegetable peels, and other organic matter, from different parts of the school as well as their homes. The expert gardener provided valuable insights into the process of composting, explaining how organic waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost, which in turn enriches the soil and promotes healthy plant growth. The students worked together to layer the collected green waste in the compost pit.

The primary objective of this activity was to sensitize students to the critical role of soil in sustaining life on Earth. By engaging them in the hands-on process of composting, the Eco and Heritage Club aimed to foster an understanding of sustainable practices and encourage students to take active steps toward reducing green waste. Additionally, this initiative provided the students with a practical skill that they can apply in their own homes and communities.

"Rakshabandhan is a festival that reminds us that family is a special gift and the love between siblings is a treasure to be celebrated".

The students of Foundational Wing of Arwachin International School celebrated Rakshabandhan on 16th August 2024 with full enthusiasm. The main objective behind celebrating ‘Rakshabandhan’ was making the children aware about the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions. The festival was celebrated with excitement where girls tied Rakhi on the wrist of boys and gave sweets and the boys gave gifts in return as a small token of love. This was followed by rakhi making activity by LKG & UKG, colouring and decorating the poster of Rakshabandhan by class1 & 2.

It was a great experience and children learnt more about the pious bond of rakhi and expressed their love for their siblings and family.

Arwachin International School organised an educational trip for class 6 to Madhuban printing press located in Ghaziabad. Students and teachers received a warm welcome wherein they were given tea and snacks. The students enjoyed personalized notebooks featuring their names, along with refreshments and certificates.

The students were shown a presentation about how the newspaper is made and the different stages it goes through and the different departments involved. The most awaited and interesting part was when they took the students to the printing press floor where the actual printing work is carried out. It is a fully automated process and the paper is not touched by human hands during the entire process. Such educational trips help to broaden the horizons of the students and also motivate them to set a goal and achieve something in life. Seeing the various processes involved in the printing of a mundane looking newspaper would have generated a lot of interest among the students to make it a part of their lives.

The students were quite fascinated beholding and assimilating the various steps involved in newspaper printing. Knowing something is different but seeing is believing.Overall, through this knowledge-enriching educational visit students learned the importance of coordination, timeliness and problem-solving skills of a newspaper apart from technical knowledge of a printing press.
