Newspaper Boy/ Girl

During the summer break, the students of II A1 were asked to work on their emotional and social development. They were asked to collect the newspapers from the people living around their house. Once they had collected the newspapers (in bulk), they were supposed to go to the trash-collector/junk-collector and sell the entire lot to him. The children had to get the money and use it for a good cause, i.e. for the under-privileged girls living in the orphanage.

They were made to realize that they too have a responsibility towards the various sections of our society, even if they are untouched by it. This activity affected their sensibility and gave rise to a feeling of sharing too.

When the school re-opened, the children brought the money they had collected and handed it over to their class teacher. The same was used to purchase the daily necessities of the girls at the orphanage.

At the end of the project, all the students were really excited to share their experience with their class mates. Above all, the parents felt touched by the gesture.
