Report on CBP Workshop on Kaushal Bodh

On 21st January 2026, a Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Kaushal Bodh was conducted at National Victor Public School, IP Extension. The workshop was led by the resource person Ms Deepti and Mr. Vividh Gupta, who provided valuable insights into the concept, objectives, and implementation of Skill Education at the middle-school level.

The workshop began with an introduction to the concept of Kaushal Bodh, highlighting the recent mandate by CBSE for all affiliated schools to implement Skill Education for Classes 6 to 8 from the academic session 2025–26. The programme is based on NCERT’s Kaushal Bodh activity books and emphasizes project-based and experiential learning. It aims to build real-world skills such as creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and vocational awareness, in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020.

The rationale behind CBSE’s decision to introduce mandatory skill education was discussed in detail. The initiative seeks to reduce rote learning and examination pressure, promote hands-on and experiential learning from an early stage, and provide students with exposure to various skills and career options during middle school.

The learning framework of Kaushal Bodh is organised across three work domains:

Living Things , Materials & Machines, Human Services. Some examples of modules that schools may choose according to their local context were also shared. These included introductory Artificial Intelligence, basic coding and digital citizenship, design thinking and financial literacy, nutrition and first aid, traditional crafts  and agriculture-based projects.

The workshop concluded with a hands-on activity in which participants worked on creating a framework for a skill-based activity. This practical session enabled teachers to apply the concepts discussed during the workshop and design structured, competency-based activities suitable for classroom implementation.

Overall, the CBP on Kaushal Bodh was highly informative and enriching
