The L.K.G children of Arwachin International School participated in a FANCY DRESS COMPETITION ON 28th September 2018. The children participated with great enthusiasm and fervour. The honourable judges were Mrs. Deeba Sheikh, Mrs. Soma Das and Mrs. Isha Sachdeva. The children came dressed up according to the theme given to them i.e , ‘Healthy food v/s Junk food. They introduced themselves and also spoke a few sentences about what they represented. Watching the tiny –tots dressed up smartly was such a treat.

    It is a proud and a delightful moment for Arwachin International School that Ms. Lochan Tulsi (Dance Teacher) choreographed and performed Kathak dance with Rohini Raji (Student of Class –X B) for an upcoming South Indian movie. The movie is directed by the well known director Mr. K. V. Anand who had directed many south Indian movies such as Kana Kandaen, Ayan, Anegan, Kavan and many more. He had also won the National Award for the Best Cinematography .The starcast of this movie is famous actor Mr. Saravanan Sivakumar, known by his stage name Suriya (A very well known actor, producer & television presenter in Tamil cinema. A few of his famous movies are Ghajini, Singam triology (Singam,Singam II & Singam III, Rakta Charitra(Directed by Mr.Ram Gopal Varma) and many more. He has won 3 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and Four Filmfare Awards South) and Ms. Sayyeshaa Saigal (An actress who had played the lead role in the Bollywood movie ‘Shivaay’).

    The shooting for this movie was held at Gautam Budh University, Greater Noida .It is a matter of pride for A.I.S that Ms. Lochan Tulsi along with Rohini Raji performed on such a big platform. Both the guru-shishya performed beautifully and their performance was appreciated by the whole cast and crew of the movie. It is a wonderful and an unforgettable experience for all of us. We will cherish these memories throughout our life. It is a great achievement for the school.

      Addiction refers to the condition of being dependent on a particular substance or activity. Addictions not only include physical substances one consumes such as alcohol, drugs or cigarettes but may also include behavioral addictions like cell phones, video games, internet, relationships etc. An addicted person not only suffers from direct effects of his addiction but also from a lot of indirect consequences like poor academics, financial difficulties and even troubles with the law.

      In order to tackle growing instances of addiction in school children, a National Convention of School Counsellors was organized by Institute of Counsellor Training Research and Consultancy (ICTRC) on 26th September 2018 at India International Centre (IIC), Max Mueller Marg, Delhi. The registration began at 8:30 in the morning, which was followed by the inauguration. The entire convention was divided into four  technical session rounds- the first session dealt with the perspectives of addiction, in the second session the new age addiction were discussed in length. The third session dealt with the causal factors in addiction and finally the fourth session was focused on prevention and management of addictive behaviour. The resource persons for the seminar were the directors of ICTRC themselves, Dr. Ravindran Vilakkathala Sankunny Nair and Mr. Keshav Singh, who are leading experts and have been working in the field of counseling for over 20 years. 

      The last part of the Convention was reserved for suggestions and feedback if any and the certificates were distributed the participants.  It was a very informative seminar where in the spokesperson covered all the basics related to addiction- from myth to recent researches being done in the field. It was a golden opportunity for all the school counsellors .

          Mrs. Soma Das and Mrs. Deeba Shiekh got a chance to visit Manav Gupta’s exhibition on 25th September 2018 at IGNCA lawns, Janpath. The theme of the exhibition was ‘Arth – Art of Earth’. The artist’s signature suite of ‘Excavations in Hymns of Clay’ was set-up in the 23 acres of IGNCA lawns. The marvellous exhibits were made of clay and pottery in different forms imitating nature and are created as 'Excavations' from ideas of sustainable development. The art installations included 'The Bed of Life', 'The River', 'The Beehives Garden', ‘Rain’, ‘Time Machine, and ‘Noah’s Ark’ and they were made from different forms of pottery-- earthen lamps (“diyas”), local cigar (“chilam”), earthen cups (“kullar”)-- transforming them into monumental art installations which are environment friendly and also supports the local artists.

            A Fire safety Mock Drill and Evacuation Drill for the teaching and non teaching staff of Arwachin International School was conducted in the school premises on 21st September, 2018. The staff was made to understand the escape plan and practice for moving through escape routes. They were told that the purpose of this drill was to establish a systematic, safe and orderly evacuation of students and teachers from the affected area to safety.
            They were guided to follow the instructions given below:

            Raising the Alarm – Anyone discovering an outbreak of fire should raise an alarm to notify others. This can be done by shouting ‘Fire – Fire” or sounding of bell.

            Local Fire brigade shall immediately be informed over 101 and not create any noise or panic.

            They were instructed to keep Fire extinguisher in working condition at their home and school,

            Not to stand up, always crawl low on the ground and keep their face covered.

            In case of emergency Dial – 101- Fire Emergency.

            1077 – Disaster Helpline No.

            In the presence of the Principal, Mrs. Swapna Nair,  a freelance Fire equipment expert, Mr. Ramdev Gupta gave demonstrations on the above drill in which he interacted with the staff and made them use the Fire Extinguishers. This mock drill was conducted successfully and it was a good awareness activity for the entire staff to prepare them to handle the situation of Fire Emergency.

              On 19th September 2018 the third

              School Road Safety Awareness Campaign 20018-19

              was launched by Shri Amulya Patnaik Commissioner of Police, Delhi at NDMC Convention Centre, Sansad Marg, Connaught Place. In a bid to educate school students about road safety the Principals, Coordinators and Teachers from different schools in Delhi were invited. Mrs. Sangita Sharma from Arwachin International School attended the programme.

              The Programme started with Swachchta Shapath. Mr. Alok, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic discussed the need of the road safety awareness programme and also stressed on catching children young and training them young. He presented the last years School Road Safety Awareness Campaign report and shared the upcoming events of this year’s campaign. After that Mr. Patnaik emphasised the role of teachers in the overall development of the personality of individuals and how teachers can be instrumental in moulding the behavioral pattern of students by instilling in them good road sense from early childhood.

              The School Road Safety Awareness Campaign is being organized to motivate educators and students to create awareness about Delhi Police effort to bridge the gap between Police and Public.

                CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

                The CBSE conducted a two-day work on capacity building in English language for class X on 12th and 13th of September 2018 at Arwachin Bharti Bhawan, Vivek Vihar.The work shop was attended by one of our teachers. The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Indu Khetrapal, the Principal of Salwan Public School, New Delhi and Mrs. Malabika Chattopadhyay, HOD of English department, DPS, Gurugram. Nearly 70 teachers from different schools attended the workshop. The workshop aimed at enhancing the understanding of the curriculum of English and giving fruitful guidance to the teachers of English to update their pedagogical skills. The various aspects of learning i.e. Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing were discussed emphatically.

                The session started with an ice breaker session where all the participants acquainted themselves with each other. After that, three skills of language: Reading, Listening and Speaking were taken up. The objectives and methods of teaching these skills were discussed in very interactive manner.

                The next session, on day two. resumed with Speaking Skills followed by Writing skills and Literature.The various kinds of methodology  and teaching techniques were discussed. The teachers  shared their ideas and techniques with each other. The teachers also made lesson plans that were discussed in the workshop.

                Many interesting group and individual activities were conducted that  boosted up the workshop. The activities were planned in a manner that they can be conducted in the classes as well. The workshop enlightened and empowered the teachers with updating the teaching and  learning process.

                  The English Recitation Competition of L.K.G and  U.K.G. was held on 13th of September, 2018. The children participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. They were a super exhibit of confidence, focus, discipline and articulation as solo performers and a great display of synchronization in action as well as words as group performers. All did very well. 

                  Mrs. Nair graced the occasion with her presence. The honorable judges  for U.K.G were Ms. Natasha Sharma, Miss. Nida Sayed and  Mrs, Bharti Pokhriyal, for L.K.G were  Ms. Natasha Sharma, Miss. Nida Sayed and Mrs. Yadav. The results were announced by Mrs.Nair.

                    ANTI DOPING WORKSHOP

                    National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) & Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) jointly organized the Train the Trainer Program on Anti Doping  on 12th September 2018 at NDMC  Convention Center, New Delhi.

                    Shri  Navin  Agarwal ,  IPS, Director General , NADA was the Chief Guest and Dr. Ankush Gupta, Sr Project Officer, was the key note speaker of the event. Around 150 delegates from 12 states participated in the event. They enlighted the participants on how to create awareness amongst the players regarding anti doping and emphasized upon the fair play.  They also guided them for  taking dope test between  and after the game.  This workshop was attended by the Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Dinesh  Chand Papnay. The whole programme was quite educative and informative.

                      Arwachin International School participated in an Inter School Dance Competition held at Rukmani Devi Jaipuria Public School, Civil Lines on 11th September 2018. The students of many schools of Delhi participated in this competition with great enthusiasm. The participants performed different forms of classical dances. It is a proud moment to announce that Rohini Raji of Class X-B, won the silver medal in this competition. Rohini performed Bharatnatyam dance in this competition. Under the guidance of Ms. Lochan Tulsi, the dance teacher, she performed flawlessly on the stage.

                      The day didn’t not come to an end with only one achievement, our respected Principal, Mrs. Swapna Nair was felicitated with Dr. Radha Krishnan Samman 2018 by the organization Avantika ( An Association of Intellectuals & Artists) for her contributions in the field of education

                      Overall it was a fruitful day and a wonderful experience.

                          An Inter-House English Elocution competition was held at Arwachin International School, Dilshad Garden on 7th September 2018. All the students participated with great enthusiasm. They recited the poems with correct intonation and pronunciation. It was aproud moment for the schoolwhen all the participants spoke beautifully and eloquently. The first round was the group round and the seond round was the solo round.

                          The results of the group round were as follows:

                          ·        Tagore House bagged the first position in class 1, followed by Shastri House and Tilak House on the second and third position respectively.

                          ·        In class 2, the first position was won by Tilak House, The second by Bose House and the third by Shastri House.

                          ·        In class 3, Tagore House stood first, Bose House stood second and Shastri House stood third.

                          The results for the solo round were as follows:

                          ·        Vedansh Sharma of Tilak House (class 1) came first, followed by Avani of Tagore House and ranya of Bose House,

                          ·        In class 2, Agranya of Shastri House stood first, payas of Bose House came second and Unnati of Tagore House  was third.

                          ·        In class 3, the first position was bagged by Anushka Garg of Tilak House, Maurvi of Tagore House stood second and Iqra of      Bose House secured the third position.

                          The competition was a great success. The teachers and the participants left no stone unturned to make the competition a huge success. The principal of the school, Mrs. Swapna Nair praised all the participants and the teachers for their efforts.

                            Two teachers, Ms. Kavita Mishra and Ms. Bhawna Kamboj of Arwachin International School visited FDA Bhawan, Kotla Marg, New Delhi on 6th September, 2018 to attend the workshop organized by FSSAI on ‘Safe and Nutritious Food @school’. The aim of the workshop was to cultivate food safety and nutrition among the students of schools, colleges and other institutes. FSSAI is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The workshop started with welcome remarks and walkthrough on SNF@SCHOOL by Dr. Eram Rao highlighting the importance and need of Food Safety and the role of health and wellness coordinators to create a healthy, hygienic environment in their institutions. This was followed by an interactive session on ‘Food Safety and Nutrition’ by Ms. Aditi Mehrotra (Nutrition Expert) who guided the audience regarding nutrition knowledge, breaking food related myths and about food borne illnesses. The workshop helped all the members to learn how to cultivate knowledge about nutrition and food safety within our curriculum through fun filled activities. The FSSAI official provided everybody with Yellow Book (level 1 & 2) to inculcate knowledge regarding the same to the students of Grade I to VIII. The workshop concluded with  a ‘Walk through Experience Zone’.

                            The Arwachinians follow the legislative and regulatory framework and are progressively working to convert the SNF@School vision into reality as fostering a culture and mindset of food safety and nutrition has to be a shared passion and responsibility.

                              TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

                               

                              Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.

                               

                              Arwachin International School celebrated the joyous occasion of Teacher’s Day with great pomp and show to thank the teachers for all that they do.

                              Students of classes 7-12 performed various dances, a musical skit and an instrumental medley in the honour of their teachers.

                              The teachers were then felicitated by gifts, cards and roses. The students of Class XII read out exclusive messages for each and every teacher which was an unforgettable moment for the teachers.  

                              The day ended with an encouraging and motivational speech by the honourable Director Mr. Sharma. Our respected principal Mrs. Swapna Nair wished the teachers and thanked the students for organizing the event beautifully and also emphasized that respect is the greatest gift a teacher can receive.

                              After the dispersal of the students, a game of musical chair and a talent hunt show was organized for the teachers followed by lunch. All the teachers enjoyed themselves a lot. After having lunch, the teachers and the staff were taken to Carnival Cinemas, Ansal Plaza to watch the movie ‘Gold’. It was altogether a day of rejoice and a welcome break for the teachers of Arwachin International School.

                                Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate glorious heritage, culture and traditions. They are meant to share special moments in our lives with our loved ones. They serve the purpose of bringing happiness to our lives and strengthen our sense of community. To foster this idea, Arwachin International School celebrated Shri Krishna Janamastami with zest and fervor, on 1st September 2018 during a special assembly. The assembly commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by our honorable Director Mr. Sharma and respected Principal  Mrs. Nair.

                                The students presented a drama: ‘Goverdhan Leela’. The drama depicted how the arrogance of lord Indra was bent by Krishna’s little finger. After this spectacular ‘performance Aparna of class 11D gave an informative speech on the festival of Janamashtami, followed by a beautiful bhajan ‘Hey Murlidhar by Kokila of class 7 A. Avni, a student of class 10 B recited a poem on Krishna leela.The students of Indian Music showcased their talent by singing a song on Eid ‘Eid Mubarak ’, displaying the bond of universal love and brotherhood. The students gave a melodious performance. The students of class 10 also sang a beautiful Krishna bhajan. The students of Instrumental Club performed a medley of Krishna bhajans.The last but not the least there was an exquisite dance performance on the Krishna’s songs ‘. All these performances enthralled and captivated the hearts of the audience.  Mr. Sharma and Mrs. Nair also presented  trophies to the winners of NHPS Inter-School Khel Utsav.

                                The assembly was concluded with Mr. Sharma and Mrs. Nair’s valuable and enlightening words. Mr. Sharma motivated the students to be more disciplined and helpful in life. He also laid emphasis on doing our duties honestly.Mrs. Nair laid stress on imbibing strong sense of nationality in our hearts and respecting all religions. They both applauded the effort of the teachers and the students.

                                  The students of Arwachin International School added another feather in their cap by excelling in Bhartiya Sanskriti Gyan Pariksha held on 3rd November 2017 conducted by Shanti Kunj, Haridwar. The examination was meant to test the knowledge and understanding of the students about the Indian culture and values.The result was declared on 18th August,2018.
