                              IMPLEMENTING THE INTEGRATED APPROACH

On December 10, 2022 Oxford University Press India, organized a workshop on Implementing the Integrated Approach’, at Park Inn, Patparganj. The spokesperson was Mr. Manmohan Kothari.

The workshop began with an introduction of the work done by OPU in the field of education and was about the emphasis that is given to sensory teaching by the OUP in its newly published edition of textbooks for the Primary and Pre-Primary wings. Mr. Kothari started the session with a story of a fish (fry) and a tadpole wherein he majorly talked about books and their relationship with technology and how it is causing a revolution in the world of education. An elaborate discussion was done on the Advantage of Oxford- An end-to-end solution, the ‘Comprehensive Suite’- An integrated learning solution that provides schools with a comprehensive suite of educational materials and services. Its key-contents were-

                              • Curriculum Content (Print and Digital)
                              • Digital Platform for School and Home.
                              • Lesson Plans
                              • Assessments
                              • School Support Service.
                              • Teacher Training and Professional Development.
                              • Comprehensive Reports (for School, Student and Parent).

He further discussed the three I’sInteraction, Immersion, and Imagination. A lot more was discussed about Tactile learning, Psychometric learners, and Existential Intelligence. The benefits of an integrated approach were also pondered upon, i.e-

                              • Better understanding, retention, and application of general concepts.
                              • Connects various curricular disciplines.
                              • Develops higher level thinking skills, and
                              • Ensures active participation of students.

The most interesting part of the whole workshop was the Magical Colouring Book’. The book was a real integration of print and technology. The pictures it had for coloring could take us into an augmented reality experience if we opt for its digital link, then the picture (colored by the child) would turn into a 3D- live animation- without changing the colors done on it. Everyone present at the workshop enjoyed the experience.

On the whole, the workshop was a great learning experience and we thank our respected Principal ma’am for giving us this great learning opportunity.

                                MENTAL HEALTH AFTER COVID-19

The pandemic had triggered a mental health tsunami worldwide. People faced challenges with their lives, family, work and social support in ways not known previously. According to the World Happiness Report 2021, mental health is one of the biggest casualties of the pandemic and resulting lockdown. Women, young and poor people have been the worst affected.

Students of Arwachin International School participated in an online discussion with the students from the partner school, Swati Sadan, Nepal. The topic of discussion was “Mental Health after COVID-19”.

Students of both the schools discussed about the severe impact that Covid had on the entire world and how it has changed so many lives. Discussions were based on how the pandemic has aggravated the global mental health crisis and how each one of them faced and overcame these challenges. They shared their personal experiences and losses and how they have learned to overcome these challenges.

On a happier note, students also shared with each other how each one of them had learned something because of the pandemic. The quality of resilience was seen in each of the bright and hopeful faces.
