RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES (RETs) FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Ms. Riya Aggarwal and Chahat Chawla, attended a one-day training program on “Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) for Sustainable Development” at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Combating Climate Change (MGICCC). The program aimed to spread awareness about renewable energy sources and the importance of sustainable development in response to climate change.

The event began with an inaugural address by Ms. Roop Avtar Kaur, IFS, who emphasized the need to shift towards clean energy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
The first technical session was conducted by Prof. Mukesh Rana, who explained various renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and biomass, along with global trends and advancements.
The second session by Dr. Subhra Das focused on planning, deployment, and management of renewable energy projects, highlighting practical challenges and solutions.
In the final session, Prof. N. C. Gupta discussed how RETs contribute to reducing carbon emissions and supporting long-term environmental sustainability.

A group discussion followed, during which participants shared ideas on climate-friendly practices.

Overall, the training was enriching. Participants gained clear and practical insights into renewable technologies and their role in promoting sustainability.
