IMPORTANCE OF SPORTS AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS

Playing sports and games help students improve their self-esteem, social skills, and confidence. It also teaches them about time management and discipline.”

A seminar was conducted on 25 April, 2024 at PHD Chamber Commerce and Industry August Kranti Marg  by SPEFL-SC: ‘ Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Counsel. The seminar was attended by Mr. Aditya Kumar and Mrs. Arti Tyagi. The central idea of the seminar was the importance of sports for  children in school, irrespective of the standard they are in. The seminar also talked about the most infamous stereotype that,’the small children may play but the grownups should focus on their studies more.’ This stereotype was condemned the most and instead they emphasized on the fact that no school should ever try to deprive a student of his/ her physical education period as it may not only harm the child in regards to his physical development but also mental and psychological health.

The most immortal liner was again referred to that, ‘A sound mind rests in a sound body’. Teachers were requested to encourage the students  not to miss their physical education period and start taking at least one sport seriously as playing not only keeps us physically fit but also helps them to shoulder responsibilities with confidence. Physical Education helps in the holistic development of the students.

Overall it was a great experience and a very informative session.
