STREAM SELECTION
As students approach the crucial transition from secondary to senior secondary education, choosing the right stream plays a vital role in shaping their academic and professional futures. To guide the students of Classes IX and X in making informed choices, Arwachin International School organized a workshop on Stream Selection on 23rd September 2025.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rajesh Mishra, an independent motivator, thinker, educationist and internationally acclaimed career coach, who has extensive experience in guiding the students through academic and career planning. The session aimed to help students understand different subject streams, their scope, career pathways, and the importance of aligning choices with their interests, aptitude, and aspirations.
The primary objectives of the workshop were to familiarize students with the available streams, Science, Commerce, and Humanities and highlight the career opportunities associated with each, emphasize the importance of self-awareness, aptitude, and interest in decision-making, address common myths and misconceptions, and provide a platform for interaction with experts.
During the session, an overview of all three major streams was provided. The Science stream was explained in detail with its core subjects—Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Computer Science—and the facilitator elaborated on career paths such as engineering, medicine, research, data science, and pure sciences. The Commerce stream was presented with its emphasis on Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics, and Entrepreneurship, leading to career options in finance, business management, law, and other commerce-related fields. The Humanities stream was also highlighted, covering subjects like History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, and Fine Arts, and students were introduced to careers in civil services, journalism, law, teaching, social work, and design.
The speaker further stressed the importance of career planning and goal setting, encouraging students to reflect on their own strengths, weaknesses, and interests before making subject choices. An engaging interactive session followed, during which the students asked questions about career prospects and inter-disciplinary opportunities.
The workshop concluded on a positive note, with students gaining greater clarity about subject combinations and career avenues. Overall, the workshop proved to be highly informative, interactive, and motivating, empowering students to make well-informed decisions about their future.
