                                        A Visit to Fire Station

On 20th September’22 the students of classes 1 and 2 paid a visit to the fire station at Tahirpur. The visit was integrated with their English and EVS curriculum. The purpose of the visit was to accustom the young learners with the importance of helpers and also make them aware of the safety precautions. The staff at the fire station was gracious enough to inform the students about the emergency numbers, the use of the siren and the steps that are to be followed in case of an emergency. They learnt so many new terms like-siren, emergency, ladder, fire fighter, hose and so on. The firemen also demonstrated how fire is put out and the hose can be used in so many different ways. This left the children astounded and they were spell bound.

The visit was a great success as the students came back well informed. They thoroughly enjoyed the visit as it was their first visit with their friends and teachers. The staff of the fire station was accommodating and informative.

The workshop was full of activities like:

                                              • Paper drop sound.
                                              • Drop a coin in a glass closing one eye.
                                              • Feel the pins inserted in a potato on different parts of the body.
                                              • A wet paper strip zipped up itself when the ends were joined.
                                              • Detecting the sound from where it comes from and many more.

All the participants played, asked,  tinkered, allowed themselves to be naughty and failed too! For once, the teachers forgot their syllabus and became students who were free to try on their own way with different variations of each experiment. Participants explored ways to find new solutions.

Everyone got so involved in the activities that nobody wanted the session to end.

Overall, it was an enriching experience.
