An excursion is not just a pleasure trip; it enhances the knowledge of the students beyond the four walls of the classroom. To provide such an enriching experience, the Class 12 Biology students of Arwachin International School, under the guidance of the Biology teacher Mrs. Shruti Mishra, were taken to the Department of Botany, Delhi University on 17th August 2022. Students visited the Biotechnology Lab where they learnt and performed isolation of plasmid DNA from a bacterial cell and the process of Gel Electrophoresis. Throughout the trip, they were continually guided by Professor Girish Mishra and his team consisting of Ph.D. students. All the students were taken around the different laboratories of the University, where they beheld Laminar Flow Cabinet, Electron Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope, Transmission Electron Microscope, etcetera. They were also shown the plant Arabidopsis, a model organism in plant molecular biology. The trip gave good exposure to practical Biology and was a new learning experience for the students.
