“Creativity, as has been said, consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know. Hence, to think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted”-George Kneller.

Best out of waste is one such craft which follows this environmental friendly principle and at the same time creates useful and picturesque objects out of waste products. In order to make Children aware of uses of waste material and to give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future, a ‘Best out of Waste competition’ and ‘Poster Making‘ competition was organized at Trendz Academy on 16th October 2019 at Safdarjung Enclave for the students of class XI to XII. Creative hands and imaginative minds came together ion a creative burst of energy. Mind blowing beyond expectations, fantabulous ideas were demonstrated by the students. They used reusable and recyclable materials like newspaper, magazines, egg tray, etc to crate an amazing array of display items and useful everyday objects, leaving everyone totally impressed.

Our school students were also a part of this event. A team from our school bagged a trophy of “Best Utility Product” as they made a hand bag using newspapers. Students who won the trophy were Prachi Garg (IX A), Pranshi (XA), Priyal (IX B), Ananya Bhartwal  (IX B).

It was a great learning experience for them. It was amazing to see how scrap could be transformed into such useful and beautiful articles.

Handwashing is a great Montessori practical life lesson with steps that can improve the child’s order, concentration, coordination, and independence. Handwashing is a significant habit that should be inculcated right from childhood as children are the most energetic, enthusiastic and are open to ideas and change. They can take lessons they have learned at school back home to teach their parents, siblings and elders.

With an objective to educate pre- primary (LKG, UKG) kids about handwashing, The Arwachin International School, Dilshad Garden celebrated the Global Handwashing Day. On  15-10-2019 The students learnt about proper steps that need to be followed for handwashing and things that are needed such as handwash /soap, towel ,water. They were also explained the importance of handwashing through various slogans such as’Cleanliness is next to godliness’ , ‘clean hands keeps germs away’.On the  whole the kids enjoyed the activity and understood the importance of handwashing.

“It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.”

Computers have changed the way we perceive the world.  They are like a double edged sword. They have helped the development of humans in various ways; however they have also increased problems for us.

The technological revolution has become the sole cause of the new type of theft .i.e. the CYBER CRIME!

Cybercrime is any criminal activity that involves a computer, networked device or a network.  To make the students aware about the threats they face while using the internet, Arwachin International School organized a workshop on Cyber Safety on  October 10, 2019.

Mr. Rakshit Tandon, Director Executive Council - Council of Information Security and Consultant – Internet and Mobile Association of India addressed our students and helped them explore the digital world in a responsible manner.  He spoke to the students on the topic of ethical hacking, and cyber laws of India. The students enthusiastically replied to all his questions. He also enlightened the students about the various ethical laws of India by giving them real life examples about cyber crimes which have affected the Indian youth.  Moreover, he also taught that addiction is the worst poison a human can consume.  The excessive participation of teenagers over social networking sites and online games has affected their  physical and mental health.

Thus he concluded the workshop with the words “New technology is not good or evil in and of itself. It's all about how people choose to use it.”

The greatness of culture can be found in its festivals - events ordinarily staged by a community centering on and celebrating some unique aspect of that community and its tradition. Once again ‘ARWACHIN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL’ was a part of the celebration of Dussehra, a time of victory for good over evil, a time when the world sees the example of the power of good.

The auspicious day of 4th October, 2019 commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by our esteemed Guest of Honour, Mr Uday Kaushik, our honourable Director, Mr Sharma and our respected Prinicipal, Mrs Nair. The primary objective of the entire celebration was to make the students experience the real essence and importance of Dussehra and to convince them that no matter how intelligent a person is, his pride will be the reason of his collapse.

The programme began by seeking the blessings of Goddess Durga through a spiritual song ‘Om Shri Durgayai’ sung by the students of class 8. The students of AIS enthralled the entire audience with their synchronized instrumental performance and a group dance on the song ‘Ayigiri Nandini’ and ‘Aarti Jai Maa’ respectively.

Thereafter, the students were made aware of the ancient story wherein the Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar came together creating ‘Durga’ in order to kill the demon king Mahishasur. A spectacular act was staged on Mahishasur Mardani by the students of classes 7 to 9.  Next in line, was an English Song ‘Thank you Lord’ sung by the students of 6 to 8 which taught everybody to express his/her gratitude to the Almighty God.

The day of Dussehra also coincides with the immersion of Goddess Durga, so the programme also included a ‘Nukkad Natak’ on the same subject making the audience aware about the harmful effects it has on the environment and the alternative steps to be taken by them for the rituals to be performed during their celebrations. A student of Class 8 also recited a beautiful poem giving a magnificent description of Lord Rama and his ideals.

Last but not the least, the programme concluded with the motivational words of the Guest of Honour, Mr Uday Kaushik, who encouraged the students to be thoughtful and have pure ideas in their minds. Our honourable Director, Mr Sharma blessed the audience with his inspiring words, appealing the students to have respect for every woman and even urge others to do so. The Principal, Mrs Nair addressed the students telling them to take back the positive thoughts and reflect upon the values imparted through today’s programme. Everyone seemed to be in a state of absolute bliss as the celebration delivered the message, “Let us start a great life by conquering our external evils”.
