“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I
remember. Involve me and I learn- Benjamin Franklin”
The students of
Arwachin International School participated in ‘Fest-O-Skills’ competition
organized by DAV school, Pushpanjali Enclave. The competition was categorized
on the basis of subjects and age groups. Under the name of ‘Learning
Enterprises’, the students of classes 3 and 4 prepared games on the topics-
‘Adjectives’ and ‘Measurements’.
Ø Class
3 prepared a game on topic –‘Adjectives’. They were divided into four groups
consisting of two students each. A track, having five different types of
hurdles, was laid. After each hurdle, placards of different topics like Nouns,
Pronouns, Prepositions, were placed in the rings. The first participant crossed
the first two hurdles and collected the Adjective placards from the ring and
gave it to the next participant. The last participants collected the rest of
the placards and hang them on a string. The team that hung the maximum numbers
of Adjectives in less time was announced as the winner of the game. The
objective of the game was to inculcate trans-disciplinary and kinesthetic
abilities of the students.
Ø Class
4 prepared a game on the topic ‘Measurement’. The aim of the game was to
identify the things according to length,
weight, capacity.
Materials required for
the game were:

For length : scale , saree, ribbon ,
measuring tape etc
·
For weight: packet of sugar, ball, paper
weight etc.
·
For capacity: glass, bowl, syringe,
bottle etc.
The objective of the activity was to identify the items according to the units of measurement.
The
students were divided into two groups consisting of four students each. Two
participants from each team segregated the things into three different columns
according to their units and the other two ran along the given path. It was observed
that though the items and time limit were the same
but the number of steps taken by each group was different. The team that arranged
the things according to the unit i.e. length, weight, capacity within the
specific time limit was declared as the winner.
Besides
English and Mathematics, to enhance the knowledge of folk art among the
students, class 6 (Sonal Angra 6A) prepared Gonda Art on an A-3 size sheet.
The
results of the competition are awaited.
