    JENESYS 2018

We all have our beliefs, our prejudices about several different things. It is only when we experience these things that we get to know the reality, many a times, breaking our notions to give out something even more lovable. We four students of Arwachin international school faced a similar experience.

We four, ie Shruti Kishore, Deepal Yadav, Rishab Dandriyal and Anushriya Roy, being selected for a Japanese cultural exchange programme got a chance to experience the culture of Japan from 20th March, 2018 to 27th March, 2018. Before going all we knew about Japan was from our books, and was mostly read and forgotten. But when we went there, we got to know Japan by our own experience which would always stay with us in our hearts. Earlier, we knew how punctual and polite the people of Japan were but it was only after a seven days tour to Japan that we felt how open hearted and free spirited they are. All our notions of them being dull and boring were shattered after we experienced an extremely warm and kind welcome by them. This is the reason because of which, when we returned to India, we not only had an unforgettable experience but also an unbreakable relation. It gave us an opportunity to showcase the rich Indian culture and heritage in the world platform.

Since we had gone there in an environment- related programme, we attended lectures at the hydrogen power centre and Fukuoka institute of health and environmental sciences. We all were enthralled by the knowledge we were enriched with.

This programme offered a valuable opportunity to us to directly interact with the governor of Fukuoka. We asked many questions related to the present condition of our ecology, environment and ways to protect it. We were even given a platform to showcase our talents and Indian culture where we four not only represented our school but also our nation .The best part of the trip was the home stay where we all learnt about the Japanese culture and tradition by staying with a Japanese family. We leant origami, ikebana, mountain trekking and many more. We even participated in the tea ceremony and the kimono- wearing organized by the Fukuoka high school students. It was surely an unforgettable experience for us.

We are highly grateful to JICE, Japanese government and our own Arwachin international school for giving us a lifetime opportunity which surely would prove to be a step forward in our lives. All this was possible only due to our respected director, Mr. Arun Sharma, honorable principal and teachers. And special thanks to Mrs. Jain who taught us Japanese through all these years and made our dream come true.

The Japanese Language teachers of Arwachin International School Mrs. Jain & Mrs. Kaur attended the Japanese workshop “Let’s think Japanese class based on JF Standard” on 10th March, 2018 at the Japan Foundation, Delhi.

The objective of the workshop was to give the teachers an idea about how to teach students Japanese using Marugoto book. They emphasized on the use of Can-Do activity based learning concept.

The workshops like this play a vital role in the enhancement of the teaching-learning process.

We look forward for such workshops in future as well.
