Japanese language Mini Workshop

A workshop was held on “How to teach a group reading activity?” by Japan Foundation on 23rd September, 2017 at Japan Foundation, New Delhi.    The motive of the workshop was to acquaint the teachers with the rules of group reading, to make them understand steps to teach group reading and understand the purpose of group reading.

Group reading is an activity to recite poem or stories in a group. Just as when you sing a song, in group reading, things like the tone, and speed of voice and volumes have to be changed in a small or a big group. This activity is popular in primary and secondary educational institutes not only in Japan but also all over the world, because students can brush up their Japanese language skills and strengthen the skills of articulation through mutual cooperation among team members.

The teachers of Japanese language Mrs. Kanika Tiwari and Mrs. Vandana Jain attended the workshop to update their knowledge about the same.

A group of four students of class 7 along with the Japanese language teachers, Mrs. Jain & Mrs. Tiwari  participated in a Japanese language camp on Sept. 9th, 2017. The camp was organized by Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers ( JOCVs ) from JICA & JALSTA members at Bluebells School.

The objectives of the camp were to increase students’ interest in the study of Japanese language , to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture & to exchange ideas among students & teachers from different schools.

The students experienced many activities in the camp like Japanese games, Japanese food making & paper craft activity etc. They also got the opportunity of  Japanese folktale enactment in the camp.

Our students excitedly performed all the activities. The confidence of our students in presenting  the Japanese folktale was  amazing. The students are highly motivated to share their learnings with their peers in the school.

The camp was a learning platform  not only  for the students, but also for the Japanese language teachers who learned how to conduct the events effectively. They escorted the students with  great zeal.

We look forward to participate in such events in future as well.
