CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR ENGLISH TEACHERS

capacity building workshop for English (Class 12)  was organized at SLS DAV Public School, Mausam Vihar, Delhi by the CBSE on 21st and 22nd July, 2017 which was attended by Mrs. Annapoorna Siddhartha.The topic for the workshop was ‘Challenging Areas in English Core’.

 It was attended by around 50 teachers  from all over Delhi and NCR. The Resource persons were renowned ELT experts, Mrs. Ruchi Sengar and Mrs  Rajni Jaimini.They informed us about the initiatives taken by the CBSE in the field of e-learning and discussed how to make our class interactive. A well explanatory PPT on the topic -Key considerations in teaching of English was discussed with the teachers. It gave an insight on the role of time, environment, safety, materials and 100% participation in reading, writing, literature including dramatics. A Fun element was added where teachers were asked to choreograph a song using various props. This presentation focused on the variety of e-resources available in the discipline of English. This session was followed by presentation of various fun-filled activities that can be taken up with children like-Mime, vocal warm ups, music, rhythmic movements, etc. Ample videos and screenings were shown and appreciated by the teachers.

The last session concluded with taking feedback from all the teachers and sharing the take away from this workshop. Teachers shared that they were enriched with knowledge and geared up to implement the same.

    The zonal on the painting competition was organized on 19th August 2017 at Nand nagri Govt  school.

    The  topic  for the senior (9-12) group was `festivals’ and for the junior (6-8) group was  the ` village

    Scene.Two students from each category participated respectively.

    Padma Laxmi Panda from viii –a secured 3rd position in the junior group.

      Arwachin International School celebrated the 71st year of India’s Independence on 11th August 2017. The students from classes 1 to 5 took part in it with great enthusiasm and zeal. The occasion was graced by the presence of our honorable director Mr. Arun Sharma and our beloved principal Mrs. Peter. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. It was an auspicious beginning.

      The programme started with a thoughtful dramatization of the play “The Unforgotten Heroes of India” which evoked the feeling of patriotism in the children. It was followed by a mesmerizing hindi song “Tara Ram Pam”. Everyone enjoyed the song. After that the children sang an English song “Born Free”.

      Last but not the least, the young dancers of Arwachin performed on various forms of ‘Vande Mataram’ song which left the audience spellbound. The programme concluded with the thought provoking, encouraging and inspiring words of our respected director Mr. Sharma. He shared his valuable thoughts that if we really want to respect our nation, we should keep our India clean. A clean nation is a beautiful nation. He also congratulated a very happy and blessed Janamashtami to the students. Our repected principal Mrs. Peter said that as our freedom fighters have gifted us this independence and did so much for our nation, we should also contribute to it by doing our duties properly. We should thank the soldiers and freedom fighters from our heart. She also introduced a term ‘PAY IT FORWARD’ to the students and asked them to work for their nation, thus pay forward what they have got.

      The day was filled with patriotism.

        Ecovisionaire (BIY) Workshop

        Ecovisionaire (BIY) Workshop

        Ecovisionaire (BIY) organized Economics workshop on 5th August, 2017. It was held at Victor Public School, Patparganj which was attended by 50 teachers from various schools of Delhi. The workshop was conducted by a group of experts:

        The objective of the workshop was to focus on the following issues:-

        Ø  Contents and presentation of economics project

        Ø  Common mistake in Board examination

        Ø  Effective evaluation of Board Papers

        The workshop was informative and suggested innovative ideas for the project of class 12. This session was really helpful in clarifying the doubts and questions of the teachers related to the projects and Board examination. It was really a useful session. The workshop ended with a short quiz based on current news headlines.

          for
           Secondary Science Teachers

           A two day capacity building programme was conducted at Little Flower Public School, Shivaji Park on 4th & 5th August 2017.

          The programme primarily focused on achieving the objectives of learning science based on Bloom’s Taxonomy.  Different methods and strategies of teaching science were discussed which can be helpful in achieving teaching -learning objectives.

          Further, it was discussed in detail how to cover the three domains namely- cognitive, affective and conative in a lesson plan effectively.

          Furthermore, the different assessment techniques, drafting the blue print and question paper, the reliability and the validity of the test items were also discussed.    

          It was indeed a fruitful and enriching experience.

            Zonal  Art and Craft competition

            The zonal Art and Craft competition was held on 5, August 2017 . Students of classes( 7 -10) participated in Collage and Paper Mache . The students were asked to create anything of their choice in  the  above mentioned two categories.

             Pranshi from class 8A  made a peacock on a wooden board and won the second position in Paper Mache Junior category zonal competition.
