Commerce Teachers Foundation (CTF) organised a workshop for commerce teachers on the topic “Professional Enrichment Programme” about recent changes in the curriculum of Accountancy on 28th July’ 17 at Ryan International School, Rohini.

The resource person was Mr V Wason, an eminent author. He discussed the new changes in Accountancy for class XI and XII along with HOTS questions and frequently asked questions in board exams.

A session on GST and its effect and implications was also taken by him and more emphasis was on the accounting treatment of GST and how it should be taught to class XI and XII students. It was an enriching experience for all of us.

    DEBATE COMPETITION 2017-18 (VI-VIII)

    An Inter-House Debate Competition was held in Arwachin International School on 21st July. The students of classes 6 to 8 participated in it. The competition provided a platform to the students to demonstrate their critical thinking and persuasion skills. The topic was ‘Science is a threat to humanity’. The competition was adjudged by the honorable Principal Mrs. Peter, Mrs.  Sharma and Mrs. Sibal.

    All the four houses Tagore, Tilak, Bose and Shastri formed their team of two speakers each, one speaking for the motion and the other against the motion. The participants presented their thoughts vehemently on the issue and came up with their perspective regarding the same. They cited reasons and supported them with suitable examples from real life, to justify their stand.

    The highlight of the event was rebuttal round. The questions were asked by the eminent judges and the audience from the debaters.  The judges declared Shastri house the winner with 116 points. Tagore house bagged second position with 106 points, Tilak house secured third position with 103.5 points followed by Bose house securing 95 points. Uttara  of Shastri House was declared the best debater.

    The students of classes 6 to 8, who were an audience to the show, thoroughly enjoyed the event. The event came to end with Mrs. Peter applauding the sincere effort of the participants.

      Participation in Annual Origami Exhibition & Workshop
      Love and Peace - 2017

       The Annual Origami Exhibition & Workshop, Love and Peace – 2017 was organized by “The Origami  Oritai Club”, from 10th July to 21st July at The Japan Foundation, New Delhi. This year, the theme of the exhibition was “ Mother Nature”.

      The Japanese  students of classes 6 -8  along with their teachers, Mrs. Jain & Mrs. Tiwari  visited the exhibition & participated in the workshop on 20th July, 2017.

      Our students got  the opportunity to experience the mother nature by this beautiful art form of Origami. They also interacted with the instructors during the workshop and were able to make things like fish, butterfly, tulip flower etc.

      We would look forward to attend such workshops in future as well.

        Capacity Building Programme (science)

        CBSE organized a Capacity Building Programme(science ) On 18th & 19th July 2017. The workshop was conducted at the Faculty Development & Research Centre, Shankar Vihar.It was attended by Mrs Sangita Sharma & Mrs Sunita Suri. The main aim of the workshop was to empower the teachers with the modern tools of teaching learning process.

        Mrs Meenu Tiwari , Principal CRPF school & Mrs Shweta Singh , Joint Director CBSE were the resource persons. Their content knowledge and efficiency was highly appreciated by everyone .After the formal introduction, the participants discussed about the importance of science & teaching of science. The key concepts discussed were NCF , Bloom’s taxonomy, framing teaching objectives, teaching strategies, drafting test items and lesson planning. We also had a discussion  about the change in the CBSE exam format.

        Overall it was a good experience & we got to share about some interesting and innovative practices being followed in modern  day  schools namely:

        (i) using conducting dough to increase or decrease the length and width of the resistance

        (ii) making small lab in the classrooms and providing a science kits containing materials required for the activities to all students.

          The students of Arwachin Interational School participated in FEST-O-SKILL, SERIES-3, an online competition organized by DAV school in the month of July. A number of competitions were put up for children of all age groups.

           Twenty four schools participated and all the entries showed the hard work put up by the students and the school. Bhanvi Bhutani of class-7A bagged the second position and entered the list of the achievers. The school is delighted to announce that she was amongst the five achievers across Asia.

            A national level painting competition "JAPAN ON CANVAS 2017" was conducted by EXPERIENCE JAPAN FOUNDATION in the month of July. This competition was an " In-house competition ". Our students researched on the topics like, "Glimpses of Japan " ( category  1, 8 years - 11 years ) & " Japan's Landmarks " ( category 2, 12 years - 15 years ) and displayed their creativity, efforts and ideas excellently in the paintings.

            It is our privilege that the painting of NIKHIL KUMAR , class 5-C, was shortlisted for display in the top 20 among all the paintings from all over INDIA in category 1. The selected paintings will be exhibited at various galleries in INDIA.

              JALSTA and JF Mini-workshop

              The Japanese Language School Teachers Association (JALSTA), with the support of the Japan Foundation, New Delhi (JFND) conducted a workshop for Japanese Language teachers in Delhi/NCR, on 7th July, 2017. Japanese language teachers of Arwachin International School, Mrs. Kanika Tiwari and Mrs. Vandana Jain attended the workshop on the latest developments in the area of Japanese learning.

              It was a day long workshop which was divided into two sessions, “Session by JALSTA members” and “Session by JFND Language Advisors”.

              The first session was about the Japanese culture presented through “Tanabata – Japanese Star Festival” and “Kanji Flash card making activity” and the second session was about “Kanji and Choral Speaking in Japanese”.

               The main objectives of the JALSTA workshop were to brush up the teachers’ Japanese language skills, to teach methodologies along with Japanese culture, and to train the teachers on how to use Kanji Flash Cards effectively while teaching.
