Educational trip to dolls’ museum
As a part
of the CBSE-i curriculum, an
educational visit was organized under the theme SHELTER AND COMMUNITY. The children of classes 1 (A,B,C) and 2 (A)
visited Dolls’ Museum, a veritable dreamland for the children on 1st October,2016.
Around 6500 dolls from 85 countries, adding to its international character are on display at this museum in Nehru House
at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. The India exhibit section comprises 500
dolls dressed in costumes worn from all over the country.
The
particular place was selected for the educational trip, keeping in mind the
cultural value of the place, as various dolls dressed in the costumes of over
85 countries give a glimpse of their tradition and culture to the children. The principal collection consists of gifts from
Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many subsequent Prime Ministers, including Indira Gandhi
and Rajiv Gandhi. Also several embassies and diplomatic missions in Delhi
gifted dolls to the museum. Visiting dignitaries like Madame Tito, Queen
Frederika of Greece, the Queen of Thailand, the sister of Shah of Iran, the
wives of Presidents of Mexico and Indonesia and many others gifted dolls
representing their respective nations.
The
children enjoyed the trip a lot. It was very informative as well as exciting
trip for them. They learnt about the cultural differences of various
communities. It was indeed a fun filled trip.
